Very customizeable, very supportive community, inclusive, no jerks allowed.
You still have to write your novel and learn french on your own, but Habitica can be an option instead of that spreadsheet. (And you can join a novel-writing group and a french-discussion group to commiserate and practice.)

(Disclosure: I’m a volunteer mod for Habitica — but I’ve also used it for 5, 6 years to keep myself on track. I use FocusMe to not waste time; I use Habitica to remember what I want to do with the time I didn’t waste.)
